It's been so long since my last entry.

It's not really that I miss the time to do so, more that I didn't feel like writing over there. I have a lot to write about though. I'll do sometimes, maybe this week.

On another topic, my university is still on strike, still don't know how will be the exams...

Hey, as I'm still bored during week days I have a new japanese drama to talk about, what a surprise!

Today's one is named Sengoku Jieitai.

No love story but an historical drama, well there are little love stories and some only suggerated. It seems that they don't conceive a single drama without at least a love story.

The title is a sort of play on words, Sengoku Jidai is the era of the Civil War in 1600 and Jieitai refers to the Self-Defense Forces. So we can translate the name of the drama as "Civil War Defense Forces" or something like that.

The story is quite simple, a Jieitai Squad is transported in the middle of the Sengoku Jidai, in the very moment of the Sekighara battle when Japan's destiny has been decided. Indeed, this war was won by the very first shogun of the Tokugawa family, Tokugawa Ieyasu. By the way a shogun is a military chief supposed to be a vassal of the imperial family but during this period the emperor lost his influence and the country was governed by the shogun. Let's stop here the historical explanations and go back to our actual topic but if you're interested in History I can still do some articles about it, after all I'm an history student.

So these troups are transported in 1600, this way they meet great men from history like Tokugawa Ieyasu (Masahiko Tsugawa), Hideaki Kobayakawa (Fujiwara Tatsuya, you know Light from the movie Death Note) or Matsunari (Naoto Takenaka). They were two teams in these troups, one commanded by Akioshi Iba (Sorimachi Takashi) and the other one by Takuya Shimamura (Atsuro Watabe), the two chiefs are fighting to know which attitude to adopt in these troubled times, do they have to side with one or another group and this way maybe change history or do nothing and only watch the battle.

This drama was great! I love historical fiction and this one was really well made, I even cried, which is absolutely not like me.

Hey folks, today's topic will be manga, once again, or to be really precise it's more about anime this time. Usually I prefer reading manga, more than watching it, unless I read the manga and liked it so much that I want to continue my hopeless fangirlism this way.

Today it's different, I'll talk about an anime without having read the manga, it's called Kurokami : the Animation. I simply discovered it thanks to the only french fansub team I'm following (because I'm too lazy to look for another one fansubbing Reborn ^^)

Anyway returning to the main topic, the title can be translated more or less as "Black God", knowing that the main character is named Kuro you can easily imagine who is the so called God. For now I've only watched the three first episodes. The plot is slowly starting to develop, which is actually not a bad thing, it's great to discover things little by little.

By the way the story is adapted from a manwha (a korean manga in short), originally written by Dall-Young Lim and drawings from Sung-Woo Park.

In the world it exists two other people excactly just like you, they're called Doppeliner. Each one of these has a certain amount of "luck" when they're born. When you meet one of them, the two with the less amount of "luck" die and all their "luck" is given to the remaining one who become a Master Root, and then become incredibly lucky and successful. The story is following Keita Ibuki, an high schooler who lost his mother who met her Doppeliner, and Kuro, a young Mototsumitama, creature who has to maintain the balance in the universe. During a fight Keita is badly injured, to save him, Kuro has no other choice but to perform the contract between them. She has to exchange their hearts, from this very moment they can't leave each other.

So my own little opinion is that this anime is great! One of the greatest I've ever seen. That's not too slow and not too fast, you understand things quite easily even if it may appear very complicated. There are action but not everytime.

For once in a while it's good to change your habits, to follow this good thinking of mine I suddently decided to give a try to shoujo manga. You know these stories about love and that kind of things, written often by and for girls. Romance is not exactly my cup of tea but well, as a girl, I figured I should give a try to what other girls like. Some of these manga are surprising and even interesting.

I especially discovered one named Othello written by Satomi Ikezawa. It's basically a romance story, Yaya Higuchi is in love with Moriyama but it's not a shared love but that's not the only thing. Yaya's dream is to become a singer but she's really shy and so she couldn't make it all alone. She's also kind of bullied by her two "friends" Seri and Moe.

One day, Nana appeared in her life but Yaya doesn't know anything about her. Why? The answer is simple, Yaya is suffering from multi-personalities, Nana appears when Yaya is in trouble to help her when she cannot handle the stress anymore. Then the manga is following Yaya/Nana on her way to her dream and her love.

As I told you the interesting thing in this shoujo manga is that it's not only following love affairs. It's not even the more important part of it. It's also very interesting to follow some sort of things everyone can have faced in his life. Pop culture has a great place, it's really inspired from real life though the main plot is strange, Moriyama is the leader of a rock band and Yaya loves cosplay for instance. It's still a good break between two shounen and quite a refreshing story.

As I told you yesterday, I've still a lot to blog about this week. So today's feature is the drama Koukou Kyoushi which can be translated as "Highschool Teacher".

[Kou+kou.jpg]

As a lot of drama are, this is a love story. A sad one because you know from the very start that there will be no happy end.

It's basically a forbidden love between a teacher and his student but that would be summed up way too quicly. It's a lot more than that. The teacher named Koga Ikumi (played by Fujiki Naohito) is dying from a brain tumor and he meets a young students of his Machida Hina (played by Ueto Aya). Of course she fell in love at first sight but he will need some time to realise that he's loving her too and that the story turns in a way totally unexpected for him and they're going to face much more than death alone.

As a side story we follow Machida's best friend, Kudo Beniko (played by Sonim) through her love story with an insane host who loves to play with other people's feelings. (By the way I'm a big fan of the actor playing this host, his name is Narimya Hiroki and he's really talented.) She's going to face rape and prostitution.

I'm usually not really a big fan of love stories unless there's more and I found it there. Of course we have the usual love thing but death is always present, even if it's not said the viewer knows that everything will end like this and the story is even more beautiful like this. Death is not the only important theme, as I wrote higher in this article there are also illness, rape and prostitution. I can say it's a "thinking drama" and a thinking something is also worth to see.

Today is another japanese drama day, as it's supposed to be the great day of love, let's speak about it.

Here is Beautiful Life.

[Beautiful+Life.jpg]

As I already told you it's a love story and for once there is no happy ending. I think I should tell you at the beginning as the title may be a little confusing.

Basically it's the story of a strange love between a hair stylist named Shuji (played by Kimura Takuya) and a librarian girl in a wheelchair named Kyoko (played by Tokiwa Takako). They meet first on the road, both of them driving, then it happened they both go at the library. Later our hair stylist need a model for a contest and then they start to feel close to each other and then the story about their love continue.

I'm not going to tell you the end of the drama but it's interesting. I didn't like it much, mostly because their love story starts too fast and then the rest is a little boring. It's still a good one, its way of showing human feelings is very interesting. That's not the best drama I've seen but well if you like love stories go for it.
